He has devoted to scientific research in the field of History of Architecture, of Design History and of Urban History. He has focused on architecture and urbanism of the XIX and XX century, with particular reference to the theme of travel for training, the phase of the reconstruction of Italy after World War II, the role of modern design in architecture, the history of architectural competitions in contemporary age, the manuals and the diffusion of technical knowledge in the nineteenth and twentieth century. He is also concerned with the birth of a procedure to protect the landscape in Italy, with the issues of “modern” in Italy in the XX century, with the conservation and cataloging of architectural drawings, with the theme of anti-seismic buildings in the nineteenth century, the relationship between engineers and architectural history, the leisure time, the development of towns and seaside holiday resorts. |
