The BCM lab is set up to perform experiments in the field of the cellular and molecular biology in eukaryotic models. In the main lab, several instruments are available for DNA and protein extraction and analysis from animal cells and tissues, such as i.e. a thermocycler, electrophoresis systems, a multiplate reader, centrifuges. A fully equipped and separate space is dedicated to the culture and manipulation of animal cells (in particular mouse and human cells).
The main projects carried out in the lab concern the role of autophagy on tumor onset and progression and the study of the mTOR/autophagy signal transduction pathway following variation in diet regimens.
