SSD ICAR/09 – Structural analysis and design
Research interest Research activities are focused on dynamic identification and its applications to the analysis of the dynamic and seismic behaviour of civil structures. Particular attention is devoted to the experimental investigation of historical as well as strategic structures in order to reduce modelling uncertainties and enhance the prediction of their seismic response. Another relevant research topic stemming from the experimental analysis of the dynamic behaviour of structures is vibration-based Structural Health Monitoring and remote damage detection by means of the analysis of the variations of the modal properties of structures over time.

Public engagement

Starting from the results of research activities, opportunities of technology transfer and specialised support to private and public companies have emerged. As a result, an academic spin-off has been founded. It works in the fields of structural health monitoring, diagnostics, and earthquake engineering (www.s2x.it).
