Attività di ricerca
L'attività di ricerca di Massimina Castiglia riguarda il settore dell'ingegneria geotecnica sismica e si basa principalmente sullo studio di condotte di gas interrati onshore che attraversano terreni sabbiosi che possono essere soggetti a fenomeni di liquefazione quando si verificano terremoti. In queste condizioni specifiche, strutture sepolte possono sollevare conseguenze negative come la perdita di servizi vitali e il rilascio di sostanze dannose per l'ambiente. Lo scopo di questa ricerca è trovare alcune contromisure alternative per evitare gli effetti della liquefazione indotta da terremoto su condotte interrate.
